Should you pay to revive your fish?

Fishville recently added the option of reviving your fish if it dies by paying one sand dollar.

On most fish, it’s definitely not worth your sand dollar – although, as you move up in the levels, certain fish can earn you quite a bit of XP, so it may be worth the $$ to revive it.  For example, I just sold a Purple Firefish for 6000+ XP points (adult stage) – but, it cost me 3 sand dollars to purchase to begin with.

I like to play it safe, so I probably wouldn’t spend the $$ to save the fish – but, if you have several sand dollars and are really looking for the XP, the option is available.

Fishville Mystery Boxes

New! There’s something new you can give in Fishville free gifts – a “mystery box.” It’s a surprise to both you and the person you send it to – it can be one of several things including XP, coins, or if you’re lucky – Fishville dollars.

Although most are low, you still have the potential to get good stuff from the free gift – and, it’s fun to accept the gifts since they’re a surprise every time.  The shot below shows me getting 10 XP as a mystery gift.

Fishville Strategy: Give more gifts

While playing Facebook’s Fishville, you’ll earn XP by giving gifts to your friends and neighbors, but unfortunately, Fishville limits the number of gifts you can give each day.

Luckily, there’s an easy way around this so you can get more XP and move up faster in the game.

  • Open Fishville using Google Chrome (Mozilla sometimes cuts off part of the game screen, so I’ve had the best luck with Google Chrome.)
  • Open the “Free Gifts” page in a new tab and keep doing this until you have enough open. Basically, the number of tabs should equal the number of friends you want to give gifts to.
  • In each tab, select the gift you want to give to each friend.
  • Start with the first tab and hit “Proceed to send” – you can do the same with each of the following.
  • In each tab, choose the friend you want to send a gift to, then go back IN ORDER and click “Send Fishville Request” in each tab.
  • Finally, go back to the first tab and hit “Send,” then do the same in each of the following tabs.

And there you have it – an easy way to get around the Fishville gift limits. Hope this helps!

Fishville strategy: Purchasing Fish

As you start playing Fishville, it can be a little overwhelming. There’s a lot of Fishville tips to learn, but the faster you earn coins and XP, the quicker you’ll move higher up the levels.

Here’s a breakdown of the Fishville fish you can buy as you’re starting out:

Fishville tips: Buying Fish

Mini Dart Goby
– These are the fastest-growing fish – as long as you feed them, they’ll turn into a junior fish after 5 minutes and then you can sell it.

Shy Hamlet - The Shy Hamlet grows in 4 hours and can be sold for 89 coins, almost 3 times what you purchase it for.

Hawaiian Hogfish – These grow in 12 hours, so make sure you’ll be around to sell it when it’s fully grown. If you only plan on playing the game for 1-2 hours a day, this isn’t the fish for you.

Scooter Blenny – This one takes a full 24 hours to grow – it’s a good choice if you plan to play around the same time each day.

New! Longnose Butterfly – This grows in 1.3 days, so it’s another great one to have if you know you won’t be around the game for a little while. After you buy it, you don’t need to come back and feed the fish for 2 days.

If you hover your mouse over each fish, it’ll tell you how soon to come back to feed them. Be sure you time it right, or they could die and you’ll miss out on coins and XP.

Gives you important info on when to come back and feed the fish

For the ultimate Fishville tips, including the fastest ways to level up in the game, check out this in-depth Fishville strategy guide. It gives you the beginner mistakes to avoid, which fish to raise that will earn you the most coins, and more.

New! Fishville just added even more fish you can purchase. Here’s a quick look at what’s available:

Orbiculate Batfish – This fish is one of the more expensive, at 2 sand dollars. It grows in 6 hours, so it won’t need your immediate attention, but make sure you can come back and feed it in 10-12 hours.

Purple Firefish – As of right now, this is the most expensive fish available in Fishville. It costs 3 sand dollars, but will score you a LOT of XP when you sell it. It’s also a good one if you don’t have a lot of time to spend on the game because it takes 2 days to grow.

Blackfoot Lionfish – Buy for 2 sand dollars and you can leave it for at least a day without feeding.

Tips to Getting Started on Fishville

Here are a few ways I’ve learned to maintain a healthy Fishville collection – while keeping your fish happy, and earning coins and experience along the way.

Grow Your Fishville – As mentioned in my last post, after you have enough coins, you can buy additional tanks and raise even more fish. They’re a little expensive but will be worth your investment as you grow your Fishville collection to earn more and more coins each day. You’ll also unlock better, bigger tanks as you move up in the levels.

Watch Your Fish Closely – As you play, you’ll realize which fish are easy to maintain and which ones require a lot of your attention. If you have a lot of time to devote to the game, you can have these “high maintenance” fish. But, if you’re only playing an hour or so a day, I recommend selling these and finding ones that aren’t quite as time intensive, but can still earn you coins.

A good thing about the Fishville store is that it tells you how long each fish takes to become full-grown, before you ever buy it. You can use this to your advantage when purchasing – if you know you won’t be back to the game before the fish is fully grown, you should choose a different kind. The growth period ranges anywhere from a couple hours to a few days.

Be a Good Neighbor
– Neighbors are an awesome thing to have because you can each help each other out throughout the game. You can give gifts to them and receive some in return. And, as mentioned below, you can help each other with problems like tank water temperature and cleaning to gain more coins (and just to be a good neighbor, of course).

Don't forget to take care of your neighbors!

Web browser –
I’ve noticed as I’m playing, I always have problems when I try to use Mozilla. It usually cuts off a section of the screen, so I’d recommend using a faster browser and ensuring you don’t have a lot of tabs and programs open at the same time. Google Chrome has worked well for me.

Stay tuned for even more Fishville tips and tricks. I’ll keep you updated as I get further along in the levels.
